Principal's Corner

Dear Oakland Elementary School Parents and Guardians,

Welcome Back STARS! This week we have opened our doors and welcomed you to the 2016-17 academic year.  Together, we will create a year of excellence for our children as we focus on improving family engagement, implementing rigorous instruction, and maintaining a supportive and fun culture and climate. I know we will establish a school where safety, trust, accountability, respect, and academic excellence are highly evident!

We will continue to F.O.C.U.S., making the county vision and mission the core of our daily work with our students. We are creating a culture of college readiness. This year we will build a shared understanding about what this means, and identify ways we can work together to ensure every OES student is academically, socially and emotionally prepared.

Part of that goal, requires making sure every student recognizes their potential and internalizes a growth mindset. This year, we will celebrate failures as a stepping-stone to success. We will encourage student struggle as they push themselves to strive for their best. Our school theme this year is “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” by Dr. Seuss. I encourage you to take a little time to check it out or look it up and read it with your children. Just IMAGINE all the great things that we can do! #ohtheplacesyoullgo #thebestisyettocome #F5
