ARISE to Read!

Hello Parents/Guardians and Volunteers!

First, thank you for everything you already do to support OES! I cannot believe that we are already halfway through this year. Things have flown by! One goal of our "Imagine 21" focus is student literacy. OES would like to partner with our volunteer parents to ensure ALL students receive the support they need to reach their academic goals!

Our second graders have been working through a program called "ARISE to Read". In this program, students practice common sight words with volunteers. Students are pulled out daily to review words they see often in text, but may have difficulty sounding out. I believe this special reading support is essential for moving our students to the next level! I am interested in extending a version of this program to Kindergarten and First grades. Teachers are working daily to create strong knowledge comprehension and build concrete foundational skills.

In the next few weeks we will be reaching out to room parents to lead this new reading support in Kindergarten and First grade. Please begin talking to family members, church friends, neighbors, work out partners, or folks in the grocery line about how they too can help! If you would like to sign up, please see the form below and return to our office!

You are a HUGE part of our success, and we could not achieve growth without your support!
